Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the well-known components of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Fine single-use needles are placed gently into the skin activating specific points, stimulating Qi (Chi), to improve vitality. Acupuncture points are likened to power station boosters along the body's unique energy grid, known as meridians or channels. hopkinsmedicine.org writes "stimulation at these sites activates biochemical changes through the central nervous system to promote the bodies own healing abilities"  Acupuncture is a practice that has developed over many years and is rooted in creating and maintaining balance throughout the body.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Therapy

Adelaide Hills Acupuncture only recommends and prescribes patented herbal formulas. This ensures the safety and quality of the formulas as they approved by therapeutic good administration(TGA) the Australian regulatory board.
Herbal formulas are used in conjunction with Acupuncture consultations to holistically manage health issues. Chinese herbs are often recommended for nourishing, regulating and draining to restore energy balance.

Electro-Acupuncture

As with traditional Acupuncture, fine needles are inserted into carefully selected Acupoints. Small clips are placed on the Acupuncture needles which is connected to an electro-symulating device.  Vibrating electric pulses pass between two or more Acupuncture points stimulating Qi flow.  Electro-Acupuncture is a convenient stimulation method often used for chronic health conditions like musculoskeletal pain. Point stimulation lasts for around 10 to 20 mins and is closely monitored for this time ensuring patient comfort.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha (pronounced gwah-shah) is gentle sliding of the skin's surface with oil and a gua sha massage tool. The smooth movement promotes blood flow to the area to improve circulation and activate lymphatic flow. This practice is used predominantly in musculoskeletal conditions to help relax stiff muscles and promote tissue drainage. Facial Gua Sha is becoming more known and used in skin health practices to lift and rejuvenate skin appearance.

Moxibustion

The warming practice of burning the Mug-wart herb simulates Qi flow by warming. This can be applied to the needles or from a cigar stick for indirect heating of an Acupuncture point.  The herb Mugwort has been grown, dried and prepared for the ancient practice of Moxabustion right back to the Hun Dynasty during 206-222AD. The deep penetrating healing properties of this ancient herb has traditionally been used to restore circulation and reduce pain.

Cupping Treatment

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy will be used during a consultation to relieve pain and Lift up deep cold or heat. The gentle suction draws new blood to the area clearing local congestion causing blockage of Blood and Qi. Chinese medicine understands the essence of disease and suffering is a result of the irregular flow of vital energies in the body. Chinese cupping is an efficient practice used to break up these blockage's to restore the body’s natural flow of energy. Where there’s a blockage, there is pain. Remove the obstruction, and you lift the pain

Chinese Diet Therapy

Chinese Diet therapy empowers clients to embrace a daily practice to help maintain or improve the balance of Yin and Yang from the foods they eat. Understanding the thermal nature of different foods helps maintain balance and regulate physical and emotional well-being. Too much cold and raw foods can lead to poor digestion. Too much hot in nature, like fried foods can lead to excess heat and cause poor digestion. Chinese Diet therapy can work to restore balance by reducing excesses and nourishing deficiencies as part of a treatment plan.  Following the goldi-locks rule through our daily ritual of eating can reduce ailments and improve quality of daily living.
